The Making of Make.Shift’s Bicycle-Power Generator

Filed under: Music, Videos — Ryan @ 12:00 pm

Posted by Sally.

Bellingham’s local music champions and bicycle MacGyvers over at Make.Shift (along with Mac n Mac Electric) have published a time-lapse video of the construction of their bicycle-power “Power Wheel” generator, narrated with handy notecards. Perfect for the bike enthusiast and electricity-needer on-the-go.

This is no wimpy generator, either–Make.Shift uses the bicycle to power shows in remote locations, like this one on a beach in Bellingham:

More photos of the “Power Wheel” are right over here at BuildStrong.

ByDesign10

MARCH 5-11, 2010

Presented by Northwest Film Forum and AIGA-Seattle
Sponsored by CapitolHillSeattle.com

ByDesign explores the intersection of graphic design and moving image, and celebrates multidisciplinary artists who push the boundaries to create new techniques, styles and forms. Over the past decade, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting a great number of special guest artists, and presenting hundreds of new and historic films. We’ve seen new technologies developed, old techniques revived and watched as interest has grown in this overlap of design and film.

The tenth annual ByDesign program features a range of film title sequences, animations, documentary portraits and guest presenters. We are especially pleased to present films by Charles and Ray Eames, as the work of the legendary multi-disciplinary husband and wife team was the main inspiration for our starting this program a decade ago.

Curator: Peter Lucas

Program Assistant: Katherine Jardine

Filed under: Astronauts, Community, Culture, Videos — Ryan @ 3:57 pm

Read up and check out the new teaser from our friends at Sound Straight productions ::

“After years of aspiring film makers and riders in the Northwest struggle to Make it. They have come together and formed a new company “Wild Card”. Join the new alliance on there journey through another epic winter of powder, progression, passion and of course comedy……

…It’s 2012, and the economy has crashed completely. The snowboarding industry is non-existent, and Washington is brought back to the times of the wild west. Outlaws and renegades struggle to survive. In the Pacific northwest there is a small band of riders who’s passion for riding and filming still fuels there will to live, and there is a bounty out to collect footage of these outlaws. But bounty filmers are few and far between, and the competition to film is deadly. Watch the riders push there skills to new levels, in a quest to film a video part. It won’t be easy, as their is more to filming now than just riding. They must face each other in fierce competition for a filmer, and end up in a unforeseen twist of fate…….this is “How The Northwest Was One!”

Santa’s Helpers Disable Naughty Cameras in Tempe, AZ.

Filed under: News, Politics, Save the World, Videos — Bunny @ 9:55 am

While home for the holidays this year I couldn’t help but notice an over abundunce of cameras littering the road sides here in the greater Phoenix area.  They even have cameras now that have speed sensors and take your photo when you speed past them. I don’t have all the facts but people around here seem to be outraged, just another reminder that big brother is always watching. Here is a nice holiday clip of a group of santas spreading some holiday cheer.
