Refresh // Dig Exclusive Edit
If you are living in the Northwest, you are well aware of how much rain gets dropped there this time of year. It’s like the Midwest being covered in snow 5 or so months out of the year. At least when the rain is falling, you can make your way to the Skate Barn in Renton, Washington for a session. These are clips that were filmed during the making of Refresh, Brian Chace’s new video that will be available soon!

100 Best Galleries
Juxtapoz just put out their list of 100 best galleries. Starting the list is The Alternative Cafe in Monterey Bay California which was founded by Scott Grover, who just so happened to produce the new film “New Brow” which had a screening in Seattle a couple weeks ago. I went to check the film out and it was pretty inspirational with some deep conversations with the top artists in this genre. If your into the New Brow/Low Brow art movement which is gaining a lot of ground these days be sure to either check out the film or if you’re in Seattle definitely check out the Roq La Rue Gallery located in Belltown.

Spacecraft Astronaut Jesse Burtner and Think Thank : “Right Brain Left Brain” Teaser lands
Spacecraft and Think Thank’s Jesse Burtner have been connected for some time through the love of a creative approach to sliding on snow and thinking outside the box when it comes to making a snowboard film. Looking at snowboarding as a creative outlet and utilizing your surroundings to ultimately “have fun” is what we like about Jesse and the cast of all Think Thankers. Helicopters and backcountry cheese wedges are good eye candy, but unobtainable for most.
Think it up, build it, ride it with your friends and do it all in the name of fun : Make it happen ||

The Stickers Have Arrived
So every year we have a huge lot of stickers arrive at the office and it feels like Christmas. We love stickers! We have some new additions this year like “You Work I Ride”, “You Work I Surf”, “Push” & “Pull” stickers for our retail doors, “Rockies”, “Utah”, “NW”, “East Coast”, Keep Tahoe Blue, and the Sasquatch Bunny. In addition, we just released the new “Allstar Sticker Sheet” at SIA in Denver last Friday which was a huge success with Del The Funky Homosapien in attendance. We changed the shape of our art based oval stickers a bit to make them playing card size and they are all new designs. As always we have all new logo Snowcat rectangle stickers in many color options and die cuts to boot.

Chris Gilmour // Cardboard Master
I’m a big fan of craftsmanship and the sculpture work by Chris Gilmour is pretty fantastic. He uses cardboard and glue for most of his work and who knows how long these pieces took him to complete.

“Right Brain Left Brain” Trailer
Harnessing both hemispheres of mental prowess Think Thank sets out to create endless possibilities on snowboards. Here is a little tease from the upcoming project “Right Brain Left Brain (A Think Thank Double Feature)” Get stoked, then go ride!
Think Thank goes straight to the dome with “Right Brain Left Brain” Meticulously messy, precisely unpredictable and controlled chaos; snowboarding is everything and can do anything. Such a lofty pursuit takes both halves of one’s brain. Think Thank is taking the time this season to pull our brains apart, examine the differences and then put them back stronger than ever. Creative control concisely conjured for cuticle carousing co-opting corrosive comatose inducing creatures. Thanks again brain!

Visual Acoustics
NORTHWEST FILM FORUM PRESENTS
Visual Acoustics
January 29-February 4, Daily at 7, 9pm
Seattle Premiere
Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, Visual Acoustics celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of modern architects since the 1930s, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Pierre Koenig. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California’s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images.

Haiti Fundraiser/Art Sale
Hi All -
I’m hosting an Art Sale / Haiti Fundraiser on Valentines Day, Feb. 14th from 11am-6pm at my studio located at 3234 California Avenue SW in West Seattle.
Anyone who would like to donate, simply give me a ring or email, and by all means, forward this information along to anyone who would like to buy some art and help the earthquake victims in Haiti at the same time.
ALL proceeds will go directly to doctors without borders, partners in health, or mercy corp - the art buyers will write checks to these organizations directly, and in doing so, get the tax write off. My goal is to raise several thousand dollars to send off by the end of the weekend . . .
I’ll be selling encaustic paintings, some ceramics, and hand-made cards - other artists are donating oil and acrylic paintings, photographs, jewelry, and crafts. It should be a great selection! I’ve got painters Juan Alonso (www.juanalonso.info) and Diane Culhane (www.dianeculhaneart.com) on board, photographer Conrad Chavez of Brightbox Studio (www.conradchavez.com), and Smersh Design Jewelry (www.clickdesignthatfits.com)!
So save the date, and . . . give your love to Haiti this valentines day!
Best,
Stephanie
